Rab Croatia - the pearl of northern Adriatic!

Rab Croatia hostels and budget accommodations!

St.MaryThe town of Rab Croatia also boasts a long recorded history that dates back to the year 10 BC, when it is mentioned in an old Roman document by which the Roman emperor Octavian. Augustus proclaims it a muncipium and grants it independence.

If we enter the town through one of the town gates, e. g. the "Zlatna vrata" (Golden Gate) we will be attracted by the uncommon peace of the "Gornja ulica" (Upper street). To the right, towards the way out to the park Komrčar there is a "belvedere" on the old tower and the Church of St. Christopher - the Saint patron of the town.

It is the southernmost of the islands in the bay of Kvarner, with a mostly Mediterranean vegetation. When you have left the bare, somewhat savage looking ferry harbor of Mišnjak, the island begins to be seen in a completely different light. The vegetation is luxuriant, and, because of the Mediterranean climate, as well as with the indigenous holms or holly oak, it is covered with evergreen forests.

Rab Croatia is linked to the mainland with good road-ferryboat connections.
To the south, ferryboats on the route Mišnjak - Jablanac (a place 105 km. far from Rijeka) sail 8-20 times a day (even more frequently, if necessary) during the whole year. The journey lasts 15 minutes. From Jablanac roads branch off towards Zagreb, Pula, Ljubljana and Trieste.

The Croatian coastal towns and cities are served by ferry and ship services. The inhabited islands are linked with the mainland (and some of them also with other islands) by ferry/ship services. During the summer, the frequency of ferry sailings is usually increased and fast hydrofoil services are added. The summer sailing schedule normally remains in operation from 31 May to 28 September
