Split and Dubrovnik
Adriatic pearls!

Split travel reviews

Split and Dubrovnik. Somebody will be surprised why I have chosen these cities as the most beautiful ones in Croatia. I don’t want to argue with anybody but these two cities are the most representative and most attractive along the Adriatic coast.

There is a song saying “There is no city like Spalato” and it’s a truth. This city is my home town and without hiding their pride, the people will tell you that their city is "the most beautiful one in the world and beyond".

You’d better not discuss this with them because it will convince you in this as soon as you discover it! This city with the population of about 300,000 with warm Mediterranean temper, has lived its urban rhythm for as long as 1700 years, with its heart in the the Diocletian’s Palace and its soul widespread to embrace you.

Diocletian’s Palace is protected by the UNESCO and entered into the register of the World Cultural Heritage.

Things to see!

Here you'll find a detailed town map covering all the main tourist attractions, landmarks, monuments and zones in the Split city centre! City map

Dubrovnik

The” Pearl of the Adriatic" is a right word for this city but whatever we say, our words do not give justice to this stunning place. Simply saying “if you don’t visit Dubrovnik than you have missed the goal”. Dubrovnik is a symbol of Croatia and Dalmatia.

Dubrovnik has a remarkable history. An independent, merchant republic for 700 years (abolished by Napoleon in 1806), it traded with Turkey and India in the East. It even had diplomatic relations with the English court in the middle ages. Its status was such that powerful and rich Venice was envious of this Croatian city.
