Cavtat is a small town few miles south of Dubrovnik. Its not as interesting as Dubrovnik but sometimes it makes a good substitute place to stay when a big brother Dubrovnik is crowded and fully booked in the period of high season and its much cheaper.

If you decide to stay in this old Greek settlement called Epidauros, you can easily reach Dubrovnik by regular bus connection or by tree times a day boat from town port to Dubrovnik Port (near Ploce Gate).

Among things to see, several sights deserve to be visited. The Renaissance Rectors Palace near the bus station, housing a rich library and next door baroque St. Nicholas Church, are two monuments worth a look. The most famous place you should visit is Vlaho Bukovac Gallery, the most known painter born in this town. Also the Monastery of Our Lady of the Snow with some noteworthy early Renaissance paintings is advisable to pay attention to.
