Croatian jewelery

I went to croatia and bought this gold necklace and a pair earrings that looks like a round button or christmas ornament. I think it is 18 karat gold and the sales associate told me it was a symbol that men used the buttons on their uniform and the women would wear it on special occasions. It was sold at all the jewlery stores in dubovnik. Does anyone know what this jewelry is called and if you can get it in the states or order on line?
