Diving in Croatia
Diving in Croatia - 10 top diving locations
If you decide for diving in Croatia than this country offers the best conditions for professional or recreational divers. Air temperature in high season is between 34° C to 38° C with water temperature range from 22° C to 25° C.
The dive season runs from May to November but I personally consider September and October the best months for diving, since in these months it is not too hot and water temperature is rather mild. Click here to see a daily sea temperature.
Along the Croatia coast, as well in Dalmatia, the most popular are mainland or island based boat dives. Since the coast line is quite rocky, the shore diving is not typical and diving is done from boats.
During the history the coast of Dalmatia and its islands with many small harbors were popular stops on the ancient ship routes. Along the coast there are more than 300 archaeological sites and many more so far undiscovered. The coast keeps many beautiful ship wrecks, underwater walls, caves and canyons with gorgonians, soft corals of surprising colors. Here you will find many diverse locations, all with specific types of submarine relief full of life, steep walls, underwater caves, crevices and passages.
