What
is a Gullet? The crafts we use today are a modern motorized version
of a Gullet. A Gullet is a wooden sailing vessel, used in ancient
times as a cargo bearing craft for trading along the coast of
Turkey. The original design has evolved into a comfortable cruising
vessel, some have air-conditioned accommodation for up to eighteen
guests in self-contained double cabins.
Just
outside of Bodrum, Turkey, where you find Europe's largest ship-yard
for building wooden yachts. An eighteen meter Gullet can be built
from scratch in eight to twelve months. The Egyptians had his
warships made here.
The
gullet cruise
cabins usually accommodate 2 people (double beds, not twin beds).
All of the cabins have enough storage room for your belongings. Each
cabin has a separate toilet with wash basin and shower providing
modern facilities and privacy. The gullet offers enough space for
our guests in their cabins, the aisles and up on the deck.
Gullets are traditional boats of Southwestern Turkey. In general,
gullets can range between 14 and 35 meters (52- 110 feet) in length,
hence varying in their guest capacity.
In many ways a Gullet cruise is like a full service hotel where every room
has a sea view and the scenery changes constantly!
