Dalmatian islands property !

Find your Brac and Hvar islands property here!

Croatia's Adriatic coast is dotted with islands of all shapes and sizes. Islands property could be find on almost every Dalmatian island. Brac is the nearest island to Split and is big enough to have its own small airport. The largest town is Supetar, to the north, which has decent restaurants and good beaches. Apartments here start at under £40,000.

Hvar is a long, thin island and Hvar Town at the western point is a fashionable resort. It has a wealth of ancient buildings and narrow streets, with a great choice of restaurants and bars. Large apartments cost between £60,000 and £100,000.

Among islands property, Vis is the island furthest away from Croatia's mainland - a two-and-a-half hour ferry journey from Split. It's a beautiful, rugged island with a population of around 3,000 and has two main towns, Vis and Komiza. Three or four-bedroom homes cost about £70,000, with distance from the mainland ensuring that prices are lower than elsewhere.

Korcula is just off the Peljesac peninsula. The town of Korcula itself is a splendid medieval city, while the coast is dotted with small villages and nice beaches. Mljet's major attraction is its National park, encompassing it, cliffs, reefs, small islands, forests and unusual saltwater lakes. There are a couple of small villages but property is hard to come by. Stone houses with just two or three bedrooms generally sell for well over £250,000 and prices on the islands have risen 20 per cent in the last year. Of course, those with very deep pockets could just buy one of the big number of smaller islands that are for sale.

The islands property are home to a growing international community and 30,000 homes were bought by foreigners in 2003. The new laws designed to prevent construction too close to the waterfront will also prevent overdevelopment. The islands are home to many beautiful houses. Hvar Island is the sunniest place in Croatia. Towns on the islands become crowded in summer. Houses are often owned by more than one person and it's essential to find and agree a sale with them all.
