Karon Beach Phuket

Karon Sandy Beach
Karon Beach Phuket is the second largest tourist beach in Phuket and is approximately 3km long, with white sand that squeaks when you walk on it. The Southern point has a fine coral reef stretching towards Kata Beach and Pu Island.
The far northern end of Karon has a very relaxed atmosphere, and usually not as many tourists, a perfect spot if you want the beach to yourself.
There are sand dunes behind the beach that separate the beach from the road and the large resorts, but there is no development on the beach.
Sunbeds and umbrellas are for hire, but not as many as there is at Patong.
Karon Beach Phuket would have to be one of our favorite beaches, it is more peaceful, but still offers a lot to do, such as jet-skis, parasailing, banana boat rides and snorkelling. The water is crystal clear and is great for swimming during the northeast monsoon season (November to April).
During the southwest monsoon season (May to October) there can be heavy swells.
Always check if the red flag is up and if it is don't go in the water.
During our last holidays in Phuket in October 2009 we decided to stay at the Karon Beach Resort Phuket, the only resort that is directly situated on the beach at Karon.
