Northern Dalmatia Highlights

Zadar and Sibenik - Northern Dalmatia Highlights

Northern Dalmatia highlights are all gathered between two main cities of this region: Zadar and Sibenik. Both cities are one of the ancient towns in Croatia with a long and tormented history.

Dalmatia excursion tours 2008

The best way to know Dalmatia region is to take part of one of many excursion tours organized in all major cities like Split, Dubrovnik, Bol, Makarska, Trogir and Hvar town.

This is an area of several National Parks like Paklenica National Park, Kornati islands, Krka river and Plitvice Lakes National Parks. Zadar and Sibenik islands archipelago offers some of the Adriatic’s most secluded, intact island villages. Islands like Pag and Dugi Otok (Long island) are famous off the beaten track destinations for a complete relaxation.

The national park Paklenica offers remarkable diversity of rock climbing routes from beginners’ level to so called Psycho Killer routes. The most popular climbs here are Masaraski (350 m), Velebitaski (350 m) and Klin (300 m).

One of the Northern Dalmatia highlights is the Telascica Bay nature park on Dugi Otok island with its group of small islands, the nearby salt water Mir lake and sandy Sakarun Bay. This bay is one of the most beautiful natural harbours in the Adratic where the only things you can do is swimming, scuba diving and enjoy the unique stunning surroundings.

Telascica Bay and Salt Lake

Usually you arrive to Telascica by the sea with boat, paying a ticket (about 6 Euro). But you can also arrive with car from Sali - the road enters from the and of the bay and goes up till half, where you must leave the car and go on walking (one hour of light walking) to the beautiful lake. In the park you'll find two typical restaurants: one at the enter of the bay - arriving from Sali - and the other near to the lake. There is also a place where to rent boats and scooter.

I recommend in Northern Dalmatia region:

VILLA VICKO - four stars hotel - See the photo
Destination: Starigrad - Paklenica (Zadar)
Region: Northern Dalmatia

VILLA STARI DVOR - Tree stars hotel - See the photo.
Destination: Ugljan ( Island of Ugljan)
Region: Northern Dalmatia
