Plomin, the old
|
During the Middle Ages this old town was a fortified and the town walls that can be seen today are dating back to 13th, 14th and 17th century. Nowadays, the old town is almost deserted.
It is sad to see such a nice old town deserted. Most of the houses are without roofs and huge efforts need to be made to turn back in life this extraordinarily beautiful settlement. Most of the people left the city after the Second World War and the destiny of the cities without inhabitants is to die.
Find this old town on Google Map!
There should be a way how to rebuild these old houses and return to life this old Roman town, only an hour from Trieste by car and only 15 miles to the sea, driving on N 66 state road.
The most interesting points about this Istrians settlement:
- The sea view from the town walls
- The old town streets
- The Parish Church of St. Mary
- The Church of St. George the Elder
If the photos worth thousands words, than have a look on this extraordinary photos gallery of the old town, made by Emil Pozar. Thanks Mr.Pozar!
