The Ugljan island lies only several nautical miles away from Zadar, and it is connected to the island of Pašman by a bridge. It has been inhabited since the Roman times, which can be seen through the remains of Roman convents and old summer residences.

Ugljan is a place and small harbor on the northeastern part of the island of the same name that is connected to the mainland by daily ferry lines Zadar - Preko.
