Croatia weather in April depends which part of Croatia you intend to visit. The weather in early April could be significantly different in Istria peninsula or internal regions of Croatia , from the weather in Split (Central Dalmatia) and Dubrovnik (South Dalmatia.

Dont be surprised to find snow in northern regions, specially entering Croatia from Austria By the time you reach the coast the temperature can radically change from cold to rather pleasant with sun shinning and average temperature up to 12C (55F). Going more south the weather could be more wormer.

Depending on the calendar April may be a month of Easter celebration which in Catholic Croatia has a long tradition. Colouring and decorating Easter eggs, called "pisanice", is among the oldest traditions. In this period you can take part in Holy Week in Korcula when the streets of the Old Town are filled with processions.

Palm Sunday

In 2010 Easter Sunday celebrations will be on Sunday 4th April 2010. During Palm Sunday or Easter like each year in front of the church old people are selling olive branches for symbolic 1 Kuna. Since there are not many palm trees along the coast, they are selling olive branches. The exception is island Vis where you can find a planty of palm trees.

The ceremonies as it is a tradition in the Catholic Church are divided in three diferent parts: The solemn blessing of the palms, the processions and the mass.
