Croatia Weather in March
Events and Festivals

Weather in March and average temperatures!

Weather in March is still rather cold in Croatia. The average temperature in Dubrovnik is 10°C (51°F) and in Zagreb it is 7°C (44°F). The days are getting longer and the winter snow starts melting. The ski season is almost over. Hotels in small towns along the coast and on the Adriatic islands are still closed but hoteliers have started preparations to reopen it.

The spring is almost near and if you want to enjoy Croatian National Parks, like Krka river waterfalls and Plitvice lakes, you will be surprised of the beauty they offer. Sea temperature is still chilly but it is a good time for some of outdoor activities like hiking, cycling and mountain climbing.

Depending on the calendar March may be a month of Easter celebration which in Catholic Croatia has a long tradition. Colouring and decorating Easter eggs, called "pisanice", is among the oldest traditions. Read more about centuries old Easter traditions in Croatia.

Drinking of Wine
This custom originated in ancient times, nevertheless it is still followed nowadays. Since people used to believe that wine transformed into blood in the body and made people stronger and healthier, it was recommendable to drink it as much as possible for Easter.

Festivals
