When to go in Croatia? All about Croatia climate to plan when to go!
Its very important to decide when to go in Croatia. The best period to visit Croatia is from April to October. In April the sea temperature is still rather low for swimming but you can still enjoy the warm and sunny weather, specially in Southern part of Dalmatia and islands like Hvar, Korcula and not to forget Dubrovniks region. In April the accommodation prices are low, but its highly recommended to book your hotel in advance, since many hotels and camping grounds in smaller places along the coast are probable still closed. Even private accommodation should be booked in advance. Visiting Croatia in May and June is a good choice specially for all outdoors activities and sightseeing tours. The most destinations are not crowded and the you can take pleasure in long a sunny days. June is specially advisable for cruising holidays, since the prices are much lower than in July and August. Accommodation prices are still reasonable. At the end of May and beginning of June is a period of many school class trips specially in the most famous destinations like Split, Zadar or Dubrovnik. If you choose July and August when to go in Croatia than be prepared to face the accommodation prices higher up to 30 to 35% than in other period. Accommodation is generally cheaper in Dalmatia (specially on smaller islands like Vis, Solta, Korcula and Lastovo), but in these months is not suggested to go there without making arrangements in advance. In July and August entire coastal part of Croatias Adriatic can become very crowded particularly most popular destinations such as Krk island, Rab island, Hvar and Korcula, not to talk about the Adriatic pearl, Dubrovnik. In this period, particularly in August, German and Italian tourists are arriving in great numbers. While Germans are mainly concentrated in Istria region, Italians are very affectionate of Dalmatia islands and Zadar region. The period I dont recommend is mid July until mid of late August. Keep in mind that Italians are particularly numerous during ’Ferragosto’ (August 15th) specially days between August 10th to 20th. September is probably the best month to decide ’when to go’. Its not too hot like in August but the sea remains warm and the crowds will disappear as in this month children return to school. The prices will go down significantly. Its the best month for cruising lovers. October it may be sometimes fresh for camping in northern parts but the weather in the south regions is still fine and private accommodation prices are easy on the pocket.
